Immunisation charity granted 0% risk weight

The BCBS has allowed supervisors to treat the IFFIm like a multilateral development bank.

Banks that loan to a charity specialising in funding immunisation programmes and health system development around the world will be able to apply a risk weight of 0%, as long as national supervisors allow it.

The International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm) can be treated in a similar way to a multilateral development bank, announced the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) in a newsletter today.

The decision was reached due to the fact that the World Bank acts as IFFIm’s
