Japanese Ministry Of Finance Publishes Deregulation Timetable

THE Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF) has published a report detailing its timetable for the deregulation of Japan's financial markets. Among the changes proposed by the report are a switch to mark-to-market accounting techniques at Japanese banks by 1999. VAR-based market risk reporting will also be required, confirms a source close to the Japanese market.

The MoF timetable also promises to allow
