Guldimann Urges 'Decentralized' Risk Approach

NEW YORK--Financial institutions should adopt a decentralized approach to market risk management, says Till Guldimann, vice chairman of Infinity. However, he warns that credit risk still requires close central control, since credit risk management methodologies are not yet mature. Guldimann outlined his recommendations for a successful risk management operation in a packed presentation at the 1998 Global Treasury Systems Show hosted by Waters Information Services in New York last week.
