Five years on from the collapse of Lehman Brothers, regulators continue to seek ways to neutralise systemic risk in the financial system. While the immediate focus of policy-makers was on eliminating this risk within the banking sector, now that focus has widened to incorporate other financial institutions, including insurers. As a result, the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has found itself increasingly in the spotlight.
