Isda AGM: Uncleared margin rules create dangerous distortions, say panellists


New rules requiring margin to be posted on uncleared over-the-counter derivatives will create dangerous distortions and increase systemic risk, according to panellists at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association's annual general meeting in Singapore today.

The Working Group on Margining Requirements (WGMR) – a body formed by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the International Organization of Securities Commissions – published its 'near-final' rules in February, which
