MiFID - mind-bending minefield or masterful marvel?

Born in Europe but stretching to hit US managers as well, the EU's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, due to take effect in November, is at best a bug-bear, at worst a bane in the life of hedge fund managers. Or maybe not, or not yet at least, as anecdotal evidence suggests many managers may have put their preparing for MiFID compliance off until at earliest the start of 2007. Whether they will comply in time is also open to doubt. MiFID's various requirements for hedge fund managers
