Regulatory changes need to include participation of hedge funds

With the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection the process of detailed regulation has begun. The hedge fund industry needs to engaged in the process.

If anyone thought the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act meant certainty had finally re-established itself, they were sadly mistaken. Not only will the US legislation mean a lengthy period (probably two to three years) where legislators, regulators and industry argue over the details, it is just the beginning of a process.
