BIS must continue to evolve: Caruana

General manager, Jaime Caruana, says BIS must continue to adapt to a changing world and work to incorporate emerging economies effectively

Jaime Caruana, the general manager of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), has said the institution needs to continue to adapt to a "changing world".

Talking exclusively to CentralBanking.com, Caruana said the BIS needed to work with emerging economies and "incorporate them in our activities".

He added that progress has been made, for example by enlarging the membership of the different groups hosted in Basel. "We have also enhanced the governance of BIS cooperative activities," said
