Stricter regulation possible for Ucits hedge funds

Jean-Marc Goy, counsel for international affairs at the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), said a majority of members of the Committee of European Securities Regulators (Cesr) had agreed it was necessary to recognise different categories of Ucits funds.

"It is highly likely that we will see new rules and stricter rules for certain categories of Ucits," Goy told a conference in Luxembourg.

Goy also revealed Cesr was unanimous on its dislike of the term 'Newcits' which is
