Cebs says banks ‘sufficiently capitalised’ after EU-wide stress testing

Level 3 committee issues an update on the results of its stress tests for European banks

European banking supervisors say banks appear to be sufficiently capitalised to cope with future crises, though detailed findings of a recent stress test exercise will not be disclosed.

“They [Ecofin] appreciated that under the conditions applied in the exercise large EU banks appear sufficiently capitalised to head off a severe macroeconomic deterioration,” the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (Cebs) said in a statement.

A cross-border stress-testing exercise was undertaken by regulators
