CFTC's Gensler calls for regulation of OTC derivatives

Washington, DC - The derivatives markets should be thoroughly regulated and banks should be required to meet capital and margin requirements on their OTC derivatives trades, according to Gary Gensler, US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chairman.

"We must bring comprehensive regulation to the over-the-counter derivatives markets. We must lower risk, promote greater market integrity and improve market transparency," Gensler said at a conference on energy futures markets in Paris last
