Merger activity grows in global markets, says PwC

The number of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the global power sector rose sharply in the second quarter of 2002, reversing a marked decline in the previous six months, according to a study* by consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

PwC tracked 127 deals in the second quarter, compared to 124 in the same period last year and up from 89 and 77 respectively in the previous two equivalent quarters before that. The total value of deals also increased, to $36.8 billion – the same as in the
