HKMA publishes new return of capital adequacy requirements

Following the passage of the Banking (Capital) Rules in December 2006, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has finalised the new return of capital adequacy requirements and its completion instructions.

The final version has incorporated some minor clarifications and stylistic changes to bring it in line with the final contents of the rules. From the end of March 2007, firms are required to use the final version of the new return for statutory reporting purposes, rather than the draft version issued last September. The required submission dates for the new return are specified in the completion instructions.
