CESR publishes assistance to EC on non-equities market transparency

The regulators have weighed in with initial assistance for deciding on the extension of pre- and post-trade transparency.

The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) has published its response to the European Commission's (EC) request regarding the possible extension of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid) pre- and post-trade transparency regime to financial instruments other than shares.

The EC asked for CESR's assistance to gain a better understanding of the structure and regulatory context of some of the markets in preparation for the EC’s report on the possible extension, which is
