CEBS to continue to prioritise work surrounding CRD

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) has published its annual report for 2005, in which it outlines areas of ongoing work and priorities for the remainder of this year. According to the report, the “main focus of the Committee’s work in 2006 will be on implementation of the CRD and on the creation of operational networks and co-operation between supervisors to enhance the efficient and effective supervision of cross-border banking groups.”

As the CEBS has now published most of the guidelines pertaining to the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the committee will work on compiling a complete guidebook of standards and advice. The web-based interactive guidebook will be updated throughout CRD implementation deadlines and, over time, provide examples of best practice.
