Opinions on the US Treasury’s blueprint for the overhaul of the US regulatory structure are beginning to filter out since its publication on Monday. Most agree that an overhaul is well overdue and that the clunky multi-regulatory system is ill equipped to deal with modern financial markets, but doubt remains over whether it should be the Federal Reserve who takes over responsibility, or become the ‘risk czar’, as stated in one newspaper report.
