UK’s JMLSG publishes 2003 AML guidance notes

London -- The British Bankers’ Association’s Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (JMLSG) has published its 2003 guidance notes, shortly after the UK Treasury published its proposed legislation in late November 2003.

The new notes reflect the extensive changes wrought by the UK’s Proceeds of crime act (POCA) and the UK’s new AML regulations amending both the POCA and the Terrorism act, which bring the country into line with the EU’s Second money laundering directive. The notes also include recent requirements published by the Financial Services Authority. Publication of the notes was delayed from spring 2003 because the UK Treasury did not present the regulations to parliament until December 2003.
