Terrorist financiers not beaten

NEW YORK – Much work has been done to impede and obstruct terrorist financing sine 9/11 but there is still work to be done according to US Treasury officials giving testimony to the US Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

Meeting a day after the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the US, Daniel Glaser, deputy assistant secretary at the US Treasury testified to the committee that dozens of organisations that have acted as fronts for terrorists have been exposed and dismantled since 9/11.

"To date, the US has designated a total of 460 individuals and entities [as terrorist funding organisations] pursuant to Executive Order 13224, of which 375 were named by the Treasury," he said.
