The EU's Market Abuse Directive (MAD) has the kind of acronym that headline-writers dream about, but the new rules have so far failed to grab the attention of compliance officers. One Compliance Institute seminar, scheduled for the end of January, had to be cancelled due to lack of interest (officials at the Institute say only 15 people registered for the event, in contrast to the 60 or 70 they would normally expect) and this seems to be symptomatic of a general lack of enthusiasm.
