New pension protection rules touted

A range of counter-cyclical measures for pension protection have been put forward around the world as regulators begin to look at what the pension landscape will be like after the global recession.

In the UK, incoming Pension Protection Fund (PPF) chief executive Alan Rubenstein has suggested shifting levy collection to a counter-cyclical model, with eligible schemes charged a higher levy during times of economic growth and security to provide a 'safety net' for periods of economic hardship.
