MAS to review regulations and seek fairness

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) may change regulations governing the structured products industry, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, minister for finance and board member of the MAS told the Singapore parliament on November 17. The MAS is to review the regulatory regime for the marketing of investment products in the light of recent mis-selling allegations and retail investor losses.

The review could include stronger suitability requirements for certain products, clearer labelling and risk
