Bonds issued to finance new St. Louis Cardinals stadium are in jeopardy

Bondholders of the new stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals are waging a legal battle against St. Louis County to secure a $2.7 million payment due on May 1.

In mid-November, UMB Bank, which represents bondholders who purchased nearly $46 million in bonds to help finance the $398 million stadium, filed a lawsuit in St. Louis County Circuit Court, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
