UK financial firms lag in customer service technology


LONDON -- The UK financial services industry lags behind most other industries in terms of customer service technology, a survey issued in early March showed.

As a result, inefficient complaints handling is costing the industry undisclosed compensation payouts to customers.

Findings from a survey of 50 financial service companies, including banks, building societies and insurance providers, showed that only 53% of firms have systems capable of meeting new regulations on customer complaints
