The Bank for International Settlements' Basle Committee on Banking Supervision found many countries "manifestly underprepared for the Year 2000" and said "intensive efforts will be needed in the little time remaining to avoid the likelihood of disruption in those markets," in its second supervisory survey on Year 2000 readiness.
