EC consults on capital requirements changes

BRUSSELS – The European Commission has launched a public consultation on possible changes to the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD). It is also conducting an impact assessment related to the modification of certain provisions.

The review of the CRD is a response to the recent recommendations in the Financial Stability Forum (a group created by the G7 that includes central bankers and global regulators) report that focused on action to prevent future financial crises. However, under Article 156
