Fears persist over French asset-backed ruling

The April decision by the French bank regulator, Commission Bancaire, to revise its rules on risk weighting for bank investments in securities continues to hang over the French asset-backed market, though there were some signs of progress in negotiations over the past two months.

Securitisation experts, who had been expecting a clarification of the contentious ruling in July, now fear it could be delayed until September. Negotiations between banks and the French regulators continue. But
