ZCM assets up for sale

Zurich Financial Services Group, the Swiss insurer that owns specialised investment firm Zurich Capital Markets (ZCM), has spent the past year disposing of non-core assets and raising capital in an attempt to shore up its finances. So alarm bells rang recently when market participants said its ZCM arm had become “suddenly quiet” in both the structuring and alternative investments businesses. One senior European banker, speaking on condition of anonymity, says ZCM is up for sale.

The banker says
