Regulation and economic capital spark debate

Regulation and economic capital emerged as the two powerful themes sparking debate among delegates attending the Risk Europe 2004 conference held in London on April 26–29.

Manuel Mèndez del Rio, chief risk officer at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) opened Risk’s flagship European conference by explaining how BBVA is readying itself for the new Basel II capital Accord, a subject that came up in many presentations.
