Evolution of hedge fund industry matched by consistency in index provision

Service Provider Rankings 2011

Hedge Fund Research, which began its indexing business in 1992, has grown with the industry. As one of the first to provide hedge fund indexes, coupled with its ambition to "expand the usefulness of them", the company has helped popularise indexes across the board, according to its president Kenneth Heinz.

Getting in early has paid off. "We have had the benefit of cultivating relationships with many of the industry's leading managers before some of them were leading managers," explains Heinz.
