Bank of England risk and stability head leaves for BP

Spencer Dale, head of the Bank of England's risk and financial stability strategy team, has left the bank and will join BP as chief economist in October

The Bank of England's executive director of financial stability strategy and risk, Spencer Dale, has left the Bank to join BP as chief economist. He will take up the new post in October this year.

Previously the Bank's chief economist and head of monetary analysis, Dale took up the stability role on June 1 this year, swapping places with Andrew Haldane. No permanent replacement has yet been named; until one is found, the director of financial stability strategy and risk, Sam Woods, will fill
