John Wengler, the former New York-based director of market risk controls at oil company Hess, has been hired as midstream risk director for Centrica Energy, a unit of UK-based utility Centrica.

In his new role, Wengler will manage midstream market and operational risk, balancing the company’s retail sales with natural gas production and electricity generation, according to a Centrica spokesman. He will be based in the UK and report to Olivier Herbelot, the utility’s chief risk officer (CRO).
