Despite the increasing number of hedge funds and service providers in Europe, specialist headhunters for hedge funds are still rare. Global search and selection companies such as Heidrick & Struggles and Egon Zehnder are starting to pay more attention to alternative investments.

Mark Paviour, a partner of Egon Zehnder in London, focuses on the company's asset management practice. He says: "We are starting to address recruitment issues in the hedge fund area."
