Finding the perfect CIO

Defining what a chief information officer (CIO) is and does is probably an easier task than specifying the skills and personality of the right person for the role in an organisation. Each enterprise will have different needs and expectations.

A good starting point for the organisation is to ask whether it looks for a CIO or a head of IT. Is there a need to hire a business leader with a strong appreciation of IT or someone with strong technical skills? How much do the CEO and the board members
