Bank of England governor Mervyn King will take over the chairmanship of the Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS), the oversight body for the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, on November 1. The GHOS comprises central bank governors and heads of supervision from all the 27 countries represented on the Basel Committee, bar Luxembourg.
