HSBC focuses on India, promotes country chief Kidwai to board

Chief executive Michael Geoghegan said the appointment reflects the importance of India in the bank's emerging markets strategy.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, the Hong Kong-based subsidairy of HSBC focussed on Asian operations, has appointed HSBC Indian country head Naina Lal Kidwai as board director of the bank. Kidwai, who has been with HSBC since 2002, will join the board with effect from October 1. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
