SEC names new market risk head

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Henry Hu as director of its newly established Division of Risk, Strategy, and Financial Innovation.

Hu, who will also retain his chair in banking and finance law at the University of Texas, will report to SEC chairman Mary Schapiro.

The new division will combine the Office of Economic Analysis and the Office of Risk Assessment, along with additional functions intended to help identify new risks and trends in the financial markets.
