ABN Amro hires global energy trading head Dutch bank ABN Amro has hired Jonathan Arginteanu to the newly created positionof senior vice-president and deputy head of global energy trading operationsin New York. He was previously head of rival bank BNP Paribas’s commodityfutures business for more than 10 years. Arginteanu’s appointment comesafter several defections in June from ABN’s London and New York officesto rival energy trading floors at Fimat USA, a division of financial group Société Générale.Arginteanu says: “Our centre of gravity is in New York, and our fast-growingEuropean business is based in London. Our intention is to execute our strategyworldwide and specifically to commit additional resources to developing our internationalenergy businesses.”

Wells Fargo Securities, an investment bank based in San Francisco, has hiredLane Genatowksi, Jefferies & Co’s most senior power banker, as partof its effort to build a power sector banking business in New York.
