UBS appoints Kengeter global head of FICC

Carsten Kengeter will join UBS in early 2009 as global head of fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC), reporting to Jerker Johansson, Chairman and CEO of UBS Investment Bank. Johansson has been the interim head of the group after André Estevez stepped down from the post in May. Kengeter will join from Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and co-head of the securities division for Asia ex-Japan, and will relocate from Hong Kong to London. As well as taking over the FICC helm, Kengeter will join UBS’ investment bank executive committee and group managing board.

In his new role, Kengeter will be responsible for all fixed income products including credit fixed income, rates, structured products, emerging markets, securitised products as well as client coverage and research. He will also have responsibility for UBS Investment Bank’s foreign exchange business and the global commodities group.
