Editorial comment: SG revamps Americas business

January is traditonally the month of abstinence following over indulgence during the holiday season. Plugging into the public's new found desire to lead a healthy lifetsyle celebrities, at least in UK and US, are quick to launch keep fit videos. French investment bank SG, something of a celebrity in structured products markets, has released 'Step up 2010.' Thankfully it's not a work out video.

Step up 2010 is actually the codename of the bank's management shake up programme for its Americas business. And, as part of the programme, SG has created a new US-based division dubbed global equities and derivatives solutions.

Promoted internally to head the division is New York-based Francois Barthelemy. Barthelemy first joined the bank in 1990 as an equity derivatives trader in Paris. In 1992, he joined the equity derivatives trading group in New York and became head of trading, equity
