West LB targets UK IFA market

German investment bank West LB has re-entered the UK distribution market with a product targeted at independent financial adviser (IFA) networks. The SSG Capital Protected Income Plan is the first product released by West LB's recently rejigged structured products team headed by London-based Maurice Wren.

Wren, the director of West LB’s structured solutions group, says he has been looking for a unique solution for the UK market since he started in the role in September. Wren took over the role from Patricia Kinsella who left WestLB to "pursue other opportunities within investment banking".

West LB believes the new offering offers UK investors an interesting product in a market often criticised for its lack of innovation. Earlier this year Bristol & West exited the UK IFA market.
