Westar Energy promotes Moore to chief exec

William Moore will succeed James Haines as the chief executive at Westar Energy, the largest electric utility in Kansas. Haines is retiring in June. Moore, currently president and chief operating officer, will also become a member of the board.

Moore rejoined Westar Energy in late 2002 from his position as senior managing director and senior adviser for Saber Partners. His previous years with Westar began in 1978 as a finance assistant.
