PPL gets new marketing executive

US electricity firm PPL Corporation has tapped Joseph Hopf, vice-president of energy trading for Goldman Sachs in New York, to fill the new position of senior vice-president for energy marketing at PPL.

Hopf will oversee wholesale and retail energy sales, primarily in the eastern and western US. The vast majority of PPL's energy sales are in the wholesale market. At Goldman, Hopf developed 24-hour energy trading. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he was a vice-president at Ameren Energy
