It can’t be easy hauling a whole commodities division overseas, but SG CIB veteran Francois-Xavier Saint Macary has big ambitions. By Oliver Holtaway

SG Corporate and Investment Banking’s Francois-Xavier Saint Macary has only been working in New York for nine months, but he is already making the extent of the French bank’s ambitions known.
“We had a presence in the US, but without a critical mass,” he explains. “I am here to change that.”

Saint Macary is a SG CIB veteran, having started his career at the bank in 1987 on the sales desk for currency and interest rate options. He spent 1989 and 1990 in Australia, developing the currency
