CESR elects new chairman and vice-chairman

The Committee of European Securities Regulators has elected Eddy Wymeersch as chairman and Carlos Tavares as vice-chairman. Their two-year terms of office began on February 1.

Wymeersch is currently chairman of Belgium’s financial regulator, the CBFA, while Tavares is chairman of Portugal’s financial regulator, the CMVM.

They replace outgoing chairman Arthur Docters Van Leeuwen and vice-chairman Kaarlo Jännäri, who had held office since the Committee’s inception in June 2001.
