Co-president leaves Merrill Lynch

Ahmass Fakahany has retired from Merrill Lynch. He steps down from his role as co-president and chief operating officer on February 1.

Merrill Lynch chief executive John Thain said that Fakahany had informed him of his intention to leave at the beginning of December last year.

Fakahany joined Merrill Lynch in 1987 and has served in a variety of senior roles. He was vice-chairman and chief administrative officer from 2005 until his appointment as co-president in May 2007 alongside Greg Fleming
