Sifma names chief exec

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association has appointed Timothy Ryan as chief executive.

Ryan was vice-chairman of investment banking for financial institutions and governments at JPMorgan and a member of the investment banking management committee.

Before joining JPMorgan in 1993, Ryan was director of the Office of Thrift Supervision at the US Treasury. He was also a director of the Resolution Trust Corporation and a director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. From 1983
