Hector Sants becomes CEO of FSA

Hector Sants, head of the markets division at the Financial Services Authority, becomes chief executive of the UK regulator today.

He replaces John Tiner, who has led the FSA since September 2003.

Callum McCarthy, chairman of the FSA, said Sants had been selected after a “thorough search” that involved internal and external candidates, and that Sants’ financial services industry experience, among other qualities, best equipped him for the job.

Sants joined the FSA in May 2004 from Credit Suisse
