BarCap hires head of Asia-Pacific credit derivatives

UK investment bank Barclays Capital has hired Eric Slighton as managing director, head of Asia-Pacific credit derivatives.

The new position is part of BarCap's efforts to beef up its global credit derivatives capabilities, first started in Europe and the US and now expanding to Asia, according to a spokeswoman at the bank.Slighton will be based in Hong Kong and report to Vince Balducci, global head of credit derivatives in New York. He is moving to Hong Kong from San Francisco, where he had set up a business process automation software firm called ComMira e-Solutions. With 15 years' experience in derivatives and structured products, Slighton has previously worked for Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank in Asia and the US.

“He brings a wealth of experience in investment banking overall, particularly in the Asian region, and will play a key role as we continue to expand and deepen our regional credit derivatives platform,” said Robert Morrice, Hong Kong-based chairman and chief executive of Barclays Capital in Asia-Pacific.
