New regional directors named for PRMIA chapters

Karina Carerro has been named the new regional director for the Venezuelan chapter of the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA), while Krzysztof Jajuga will take up the same role at Wroclaw in Poland.

Carerro has already served as a member of the PRMIA steering committee. She has spent much of her career involved in risk management and currently works as a financial services consultant for Accenture, where she is responsible for improving risk management practices in client institutions. She also serves as the local Basel II expert. Before joining Accenture she held roles as a risk consultant at Andersen and as an operational risk manager with Banesco Banco Universal.

Vacating her position is the founder of the Venezuelan chapter, Juan Carlos Espina. David Koenig, chairman of the PRMIA board of directors, said both Espina and the steering committee had recommended Carerro for the role.

Jajuga will head up Poland’s second chapter. He is head of the Financial Management Institute as well as head of financial investments and insurance at Wroclaw University. In these roles Jajuga’s research interests have involved financial markets, risk and quantitative methods in econometrics and statistics.
