Le Blanc, who takes up his new role on April 7, is currently group financial risk director, a position he has held since July of last year. He joined the Barclays group in 2002 as managing director and global head of risk at the investment bank, Barclays Capital.

Le Blanc started his career at JP Morgan in 1983, where he worked in the capital markets area. He moved to London in 1986, and in 2001 he joined Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein to run its portfolio management business.

Le Blanc will report to group finance director Naguib Kheraj.
